Abstract

This piece is a poetic representation of the ice formation diamond dust. Its light, ponderous beginning utilises the guitar's delicate timbral qualities, while the second, more aggressive section, gives rise to a percussive texture, depicting the full gamut of this elusive state of ice.

States of Ice: Diamond Dust was commissioned by the International Guitar Foundation for their 2011 concert series. It is published by Edition HH.
