Abstract

Present Shadows is published by Edition HH. The work builds on explorations into the static quality of Old Hispanic melisma. The piece aims to evoke a sense of stasis through establishing central points of focus, a chromatic macroharmony, and through the use of some of the parameters of Vertical Time, such as alternation and expansion and contraction.
