Abstract

Professors Francis Pott, Roger Brown and Kathryn Mitchell discuss aspects of their recent work. Francis Pott ("Gunpowder, treason ... and Pott")reflects upon a composition written to commemorate the events leading up to November 1605, Roger Brown ("Raising quality or nonsense upon stilts") examines the contradictions he perceives between the new quality assurance and funding regimes in British higher education, whilst Kathryn Mitchell ("The magic of discovery - real world research at the University of West London") gives a personal perspective on the role of the researcher.
