Abstract

29-minute piece for mezzo-soprano solo, chorus and orchestra, collating text from the Psalms and from ancient and modern sources to evoke the sea and the existential journey through storms to safe harbour. World premiere: Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, London, Monday 01 May 2017. Sarah Fryer, mezzo-soprano / Vivace Chorus / London Chorus / Philharmonia Orchestra / Jeremy Backhouse, conductor. Choral score published by Edition Peters, February 2017, ISMN 979-0-57700-794-6. The composer was interviewed by Classic fM on 29 April 2017 and a video of this remains permanently accessible online. The full orchestral score is in preparation and will become available from Edition Peters during 2017.
