Abstract

Originally composed in 2007, and subsequently revisited in 2020, 'Ritrovare. Ricercare' is a solo violin work that
joins structural rigour and dramatic motion.
The composition evolves from a three-note cell exposed at the start of the piece, which progressively unfolds
through inversions, retrogrades and transpositions, whilst maintaining a clear sense of linearity. Musical phrases
outline a dramatic lyricism that articulates in four main sections, each portraying a different mood, eventually
accompanying the listener through an emotionally narrative journey.
'Ritrovare. Ricercare' has been performed by numerous violinists in both the UK and Italy, and it has been played
as part of both concerts and conservatoire exams.
It is a perfect piece for an engaging, charming, virtuoso performance.
