Abstract

Philip Barnes, British conductor of the Saint Louis Chamber Chorus, Missouri, USA, and broadcaster, interviewing Francis Pott for one hour on 12th February 2016. This constituted the whole of episode 111 of the series 'Re-Choired Listening', broadcast regularly across the majority of states in America by the Radio Arts Foundation [RAF]. The broadcast contains complete recorded performances of the Gloria movement from Pott's Mass for eight parts (2011), his motet 'Amore Langueo' (1989), and his later motet commissioned by the Saint Louis Chamber Chorus, 'When David Heard that Absalom Was Slain' (2008).The broadcast consists of approximately 40 minutes of music and 20 minutes of conversation. The broadcast was a satellite event to the concert performance by the Saint Louis Chamber Chorus of 'Amore Langueo' (not a US premiere, since 'Amore Langueo' had been premiered in the Folger Library in Washington in 1989, sung by the Schola Cantorum of Oxford under the direction of Howard Moody). The Saint Louis performance was the subject of a 30-minute television programme about its preparation, containing a complete transmission of the work. Use of the radio broadcast as a sound clip here has received the permission of Philip Barnes.
