Abstract

This report details the background and context to the development of a prototype tool to measure compliance with factors thought to be necessary for the delivery of safe and compassionate learning disability nursing care to people with learning disabilities in inpatient and community settings. It also details the origins, development, and testing of this tool, along with reporting on its initial psychometric properties. Next, the report details the development of the demonstrator prototype; and explores the feasibility of further developing this prototype through a business case; this includes an outline of a range of factors related to the delivery system itself. Finally the report concludes on the success of the work so far undertaken, and points to some of the limitations, as well as articulating possible next steps to take this important work forward in contributing to the delivery of safe and compassionate learning disability nursing care to people with learning disabilities.
