Abstract
Global financial crises intensified by geopolitical conflicts disproportionately affect older adults, exposing pre-existing structural vulnerabilities. This paper critically analyses the socioeconomic, health, and policy challenges faced by ageing populations during such crises. Drawing on the available academic literature, the paper argues that systemic inequalities, inadequate social protection, and policy fragmentation exacerbate risks for older populations and such risks are intensified because of uncertain events such as war around the world. It concludes by advocating for integrated, age-inclusive policy frameworks to enhance resilience.
