Abstract

This live recording of the Unmasking scene from The Phantom of the Opera (1925) dir. Rupert Julian was made at Tempo Rubato, Melbourne, Australia, on 14 July 2023, part of a complete performance of the film. The piano heard here is the magnificent 102-key instrument by Wayne Stuart and Sons (the bottom register is heard particularly towards the end of this improvisation).
