Abstract

Interfaces are part of the interstices from which social reality emerges. Satisfactory Human Computer Interfaces should be a product of cultural negotiation between designers, evaluators and users. The main goal of this research proposal is exploring the intersection between the everyday cultural context of use and the diverse cultural background of users in shared interfaces. The knowledge obtained from this would inform the design of culturally suitable and adaptive interfaces.
