Abstract

This is a single, self-contained chapter in the book 'Contemporary Music and Spirituality', due for publication in September 2016. The chapter is a composer's reflection on his own practice and underlying intentions, particularly within two major works: the Passion Symphony 'Christus' for organ solo (1986-91) and the oratorio 'The Cloud of Unknowing' for tenor solo, double chorus and organ (2005).

Item Type: Book Section
Additional Information: The chapter carries the same title as its author's (entirely separate) doctoral thesis for his PhD by Publication (2008), which presented his entire corpus of published and recorded sacred choral music to date.
